Background: X-linked hypophosphatemic rickets (XLH) is characterized by hypophosphatemia, bone deformities, and growth retardation. Conventional treatment of XLH with oral phosphate supplementation and high doses of vitamin D fails to normalize linear growth and adult stature remains disproportionately short.
